We have helped many patients achieve their smile goals with Invisalign, and here are a few of the questions we hear most often:
What is Invisalign and how does it work?
All orthodontic treatment applies pressure to the teeth in order to break down the surrounding bone to allow the teeth to move into the desired positions. Standard braces use brackets and wires to achieve this goal, while Invisalign does so with custom-designed clear plastic trays, which must be worn between 20 and 22 hours each day. The trays are sequential in nature, so the patient is responsible for switching them out on the schedule provided by Dr. Taskonak in order to maintain the progress of the treatment. Over the course of several months, the teeth will gradually shift into their proper positions. You’ll see Dr. Taskonak periodically during this time to have your treatment monitored.
What is the average cost of Invisalign for an adult?
Each patient’s case is unique, so it is impossible to discuss cost until we meet with you in person. The cost of Invisalign will be dependent on the projected treatment timeline, as well as other individual factors, such as the complexity of the patient’s case and any additional treatments, such as tooth extraction, that may be indicated as part of the treatment plan.
Should I get Invisalign?
Invisalign is able to improve patients’ smiles in a variety of cases, even when challenging problems like misaligned jaws and severe crowding are involved, so many patients are able to take advantage of this intervention. If you’re interested in this option, schedule a complimentary consultation with Dr. Taskonak, who can recommend Invisalign or suggest another treatment that might be more effective. Having this information can help you decide what type of orthodontic treatment will be best for you.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
This aspect of your treatment also is dependent on the specific factors of your case, but Invisalign often achieves the desired smile goals in a shorter timeframe than conventional braces do. Many patients can complete the treatment in about 18 months, and some in as little as a year. After examining your smile and developing your treatment plan, Dr. Taskonak can give you a more concrete idea of a likely Invisalign treatment timeline.
